Our Vision
Opened UP
Opened OUT
‘Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.’ John 7.38
Holy Trinity is a warm, welcoming evangelical Anglican church situated close to the centre of Newcastle. We seek to be, first and foremost, opened up to God and all he has for us to be and do.
We believe this is something for all of us from youngest to oldest. We are opened up to God when we are attentive to what he is saying through the Bible and when we worship and pray together as a community and as individuals. All these shape our understanding of who God is, the nature of his grace and forgiveness, his hope and promise, and his death-defeating love.
We also passionately believe being opened up to God is not just something for Sundays, but is what God desires for the whole of our lives, and from that ‘opening up’ flows an ‘opening out’ to the needs of the world through loving service and action.
As we allow God to set the agenda, we live out our faith by being opened out to the needs of others both in our parish and in the communities in which we live and work. Opening out means living, and speaking about, God’s love in our relationships with friends and family, our work and leisure, our responsibility for the environment, and our concern for social transformation.
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind, love your neighbour as yourself’ Mark 10.27
We believe that when you are opened up to God you are also opened out to others. As a church community, we want help and support each other and our neighbourhood of Jesmond Vale and Sandyford.
As a church we are working out our calling to be opened up and opened out through three major priorities:
1) Offering attractive Jesus-focussed worship;
2) Developing confident biblical discipleship;
3) Pursuing creative Spirit-led mission opportunities.
These priorities inform and shape who we are as a church and are demonstrated in our services and meetings, small groups, work with children and young people, and our community engagement.
We are opened out through various initiatives: Vintage, Trinity Tots, Messy Church, HT Walks and through our commitment to Fairtrade values and partnering with world mission organisations. We would love you to join us on our journey of being opened up to God and opened out to others.
