Introducing our new blog!

Welcome to Holy Trinity and our new blog!

With the launch of our new website, it seemed like the right time to start a blog alongside it. This will be a space for us to expand more on the life, events, and people of HT. I’m sure that many of you by now have a couple of questions on your mind: What is a blog? Why does a church need one?

What is a Blog?

A blog (short for ‘web log’) is essentially an online journal. Individuals and organisations have been using them for years, either as a means of organising their own thoughts, or to engage with the public about things close to their hearts. These days, blogs are seen as an important marketing tool and can help to raise the profile of a person or group online.

Why does a church need one?

Steering away from some of the corporate jargon surrounding blogs, I feel they can be a wonderful opportunity for us as a church for several reasons:

1. It is a good way to connect when we can’t meet in person. The last year or so has challenged us as a church to think outside the box in terms of engaging with our community and each other. Having a space like this online, where we can comment, share, and discuss ideas is just one of the many new ways we can meet people where they are.

2. It gives us a way to delve into certain aspects of church life in ways we can’t necessarily do on a Sunday morning (particularly in lockdown). For example, have you ever wondered why worship through music is such an important part of our services? Or maybe you’re curious as to why we have smaller groups meeting during the week. This could be a great space to open up discussions on these topics and much more.

3. A blog can be anything we want it to be. It could be one long treatise about doctrinal theory if we wanted. Or it could be a lively, dynamic, and creative space where we explore faith in new and exciting ways.

Most importantly, this is by no means a one-way street. If you have any thoughts or insights you’d like to share, or if you have any short stories, poems, articles, artwork, or anything relating to church life at HT, please get in touch.

And of course, anything you read/see on here is open for discussion. Please feel free to leave a comment below, or on our Facebook page. Likewise, if anything on here brings up something that you would like to discuss privately, please reach out to us in any way you can, as privately as you need.

We will aim to post something new each week, so watch this space.

In the meantime, keep well, keep safe, and keep in touch!
